What is teen skin?
Most teens will notice a difference/change in their skin as they hit puberty, with some feeling the effects of breakouts more than others.
Puberty occurs when the brain releases a hormone called gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH), and when this hormone reaches the pituitary gland (found at the base of the brain), the pituitary gland releases two other hormones: luteinizing hormone (LH); and follicle-stimulating-hormone (FSH). These hormones stimulate the production of testosterone and oestrogen. Both males and females have both these hormones, just in differing amounts.
What causes breakouts in teen skin?
Testosterone is responsible for several skin changes that happen at puberty. It increases sebum production, which is an oil secreted by oil glands. This excess oil can lead to clogged pores and a build-up of bacteria and dead skin cells, which in turn can lead to acne and the skin breaking out.
The skin can also be affected by hormonal fluctuations caused by the menstrual cycle and may exacerbate skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

Exfoliating Tonic with AHA & PHA
For teens we recommend starting slowly with this and use 1-2 times per week in the evening, onto a dampened cotton pad and apply to the problematic areas. Since this introduces new skin to the surface, it’s important to wear an SPF if using this in the morning.
- AHAs increase cell renewal and exfoliate away dead skin cells, leaving the skin looking and feeling smoother and improves the complexion.
- PHAs are a gentle exfoliant that help to enhance cell renewal and exfoliate away dead skin whilst also providing moisture to the skin.
- Lactic Acid helps to increase cell turnover and reveal smooth, bright skin.
- Hyaluronic Acid helps to keep the skin hydrated by supporting epidermal skin hydration.
- Aloe Vera is an emollient which is skin soothing and conditioning.
- Sodium lactate attracts and binds to water and helps to provide hydration to the skin, reducing water loss from the skin.

Natural Deodorant
A natural deodorant is different to antiperspirant. Deodorants allow your body to sweat, a normal bodily function which helps to cool itself down, whereas antiperspirants reduce sweating by temporarily blocking pores with aluminium-based compounds.
Always apply our Natural Deodorant to clean, dry skin. It can be reapplied during the day if needed:
