Recycle Your Lucy Bee Jar
One of the things we pride ourselves on at Lucy Bee is our use of recyclable glass jars over plastic containers to carry our coconut oil to your kitchen. However once you have scraped every last bit of it out of the jar, there is sometimes the thought of what you can do with it after.
I thought it would be a fun idea to give you guys a few ways that you can reuse your Lucy Bee jars around the house either as a decoration or for utility!
Here’s a list of some of the great ways you can reuse them and maybe you’ve come up with some even better ones yourself!
25 Ideas from Hannah to Recycle Your Jar
1. Juice and smoothies on-the-go.
If you’re like me and don’t always have the luxury of time in the morning to sit down and enjoy your healthy drink before you head off to work or class, then these jars are amazing at storing liquids to take on-the-go! There’s no worry of it spilling out in your bag over your iPhone or onto a laptop.
2. Salad container.
Again, this is the perfect way to layer your salad ingredients and take with you to work or uni.
3. Yoghurt parfait
4. Flower pot or vase.
I especially love spring flowers in Lucy Bee jars - they look so fresh. A good idea for Mother's Day perhaps???!
5. Storage for toiletries.
Now you have no excuse to have cotton buds and make-up brushes lying around your bathroom!
6. Homemade decorations
You could even put tinsel in them for some DIY Christmas decorations!
7. Tea and coffee storage
This is one thing I have definitely exhausted in my house at university and saves you a trip to buy other jars at a homeware store.
8. Store your dry foods (e.g. quinoa)
This are perfect for things like quinoa, oats or rice - how annoying is it when you open a bag and the rest keeps spilling out into the cupboard? Problem solved! A great way to stay organised and always know how much you have of everything in your cupboard. The strong seal lid ensures your food doesn’t go off too!
9. Store your hair ties and bobby pins
This one is mainly for the girls. You have no excuse to keep losing those pins when you need them the most!
10. Table centrepieces or decorations
If you’re someone who enjoys hosting the occasional dinner party, these can be used to put pretty much anything in them to add a nice touch to your dinner table!
11. Lemon or fruit containers
I love lemon juice squeezed into warm water every morning and keep the other half of the lemon in my recycled Lucy Bee jar to keep it fresh for the next day!
12. Stationary storage
The perfect way to organise your desk without having to buy anything new!
13. Toothbrush holder
Keeps the bathroom in our student house at uni clean and tidy.
14. Sewing kit storage
If you’re into crafting, this could be a useful tip for you! These jars were transformed by Helen Shelley. She glued wooden handles to the lids then sprayed them.....fantastic!
15. Store your homemade relish or jam
16. Hold your paint brushes
Great for all you budding artists to keep your brushes ready to hand.
17. Make infused water
The jars can hold a good amount of water and adding some fruit to infuse can make it much more appealing to those of you who don’t get too excited about drinking water!
18. Carry spare change
There’s always times we wish we had saved those extra pennies for things like car parks, a small treat or, like in my case, to use the washing machines at university!
19. Store leftovers
This, of course, won’t be appropriate for all of your leftovers but things like soups and veggies are great to be kept in here and left in the fridge to keep them fresh!
20. Storing homemade nut milks
I’m lactose intolerant and really enjoy making my own almond milk on occasion when I have the time and these jars are great for storage and keeping them in the fridge. It can also be used to store the extra almond ‘pulp’ you get from making the milk, which you can use for baking with in the future!
21. Soaking nuts overnight
A lot of the time some recipes call for soaking some nuts overnight in water to soften them. This is an ideal way to keep them and leave on the counter overnight.
22. Mixing salad dressings
This is something I always do. I love to make my own salad dressing, as a lot of them you find in supermarkets can have a lot of fat or sugars. For mixing all the ingredients together, this is perfect.
23. Storing homemade granola
Those of us who enjoy exploring new ways of being healthy, making your own granola is amazing.
24. Carrying fruit salads for picnics
Actually this works equally well if you want to take a fresh fruit salad for lunch. this has been a godsend at uni when we're busy cramming for exams - refreshing, too!
25. Candle holder
The ideal way to ensure you don't spoil any surfaces with dripping wax!
I hope you are inspired by some of these tips for reusing your Lucy Bee jars and it will hopefully save you some money in the future by fulfilling the role of other storage containers!
