Video: Gua Sha for the Eye Area to Reduce Puffiness

The eye area is one of the first places to show signs of fatigue, from puffiness and dark circles to fine lines and tension. While skincare helps, nothing quite compares to the gentle, de-puffing power of gua sha. When used correctly, gua sha supports lymphatic drainage, boosts circulation and helps the eye area look smoother, brighter and more refreshed.

Using a stainless steel tool like the Lucy Bee Stainless Steel Gua Sha adds a cooling effect, making it ideal for calming morning puffiness and relieving tension around the delicate eye contour.

Why Gua Sha Works So Well Around the Eyes

Reduces Puffiness Through Lymphatic Drainage

Fluid often collects around the eyes overnight, leading to puffiness. Gua sha helps guide this fluid away, revealing a more defined and refreshed contour.

Boosts Micro-Circulation

Improved blood flow helps brighten the appearance of dark circles and supports skin vitality.

Relieves Tension in the Brow & Orbital Area

Eye strain, headaches and poor sleep can all create tightness around the brows and temples. Gua sha softens these areas, easing discomfort.

Enhances Absorption of Eye Products

Using gua sha after applying eye cream or oil helps the skin absorb the formula more effectively.

How to Use a Gua Sha for the Eye Area (Step-by-Step)

Prep Your Skin

Cleanse the face and apply a drop of Lucy Bee Anti-Ageing Facial Oil around the eye contour, temples and brow bone. Enough oil ensures smooth gliding without tugging.

Warm or Cool the Tool (Optional)

  • Chilled for puffiness
  • Slightly warmed for tension relief

Stainless steel adapts quickly, making it perfect for both approaches.

Open the Neck for Drainage

  • Sweep down the sides of the neck to the collarbone, 5–10 times each side.
  • This clears the lymphatic pathways for effective eye-area drainage.

Under-Eye De-Puffing Sweep

  • Place the curved inner edge at the inner corner of the under-eye, near the nose.
  • Glide outward toward the temple.
  • Keep the tool almost flat (15-degree angle).
  • Repeat 5–10 times per side.

Under-Eye Scoop & Lift

  • Place the curved edge under the orbital bone.
  • Scoop gently upward and outward toward the hairline.
  • Repeat 5 times per side.

Brow Bone Tension Release

  • Start between the brows, glide along the brow bone toward the temples.
  • Apply gentle but slightly firmer pressure.
  • Repeat 5–8 times.

Upper-Eye Lift (Lid-Adjacent Area Only)

  • Place the tool just under the brow bone, above the crease.
  • Glide outward and upward, 3–5 times per side.
  • Avoid direct pressure on the eyelid.

Temple Release

  • Use slow circular motions on the temples.
  • Glide down toward the ears for final drainage.
  • Repeat 5 times.

Finish with Neck Strokes

Repeat initial neck sweeps to guide fluid down and out.

Frequency of Use

Daily for puffiness or tension relief.

3–5 times per week for maintenance or dark circle prevention.

Tips

  • Use light pressure around the eyes.
  • Avoid broken or inflamed skin.
  • Never drag on dry skin, always use oil.
  • Do not apply directly to eyelids.
